All You Need To Know About Private Pilots and Sport Pilots

By Zachery Haley

Individuals who really have a passion for flying really don’t care in the beginning what type of license it is going to take to be able to do so. They just want the opportunity to be able to obtain a license and fly at their own free will. It’s after they first get started that they realize that there really are some choices when it comes to the private pilot license, and suddenly it’s decision making time.

When this occurs; there are a lot of things that have to be thought about. For example, is the money going to be available to take some of the other options. Then there’s also the time that is going to be another factor.

The best way to try and make some of these decisions is to really seek out what the training is going to entail. For example, you may now be toying with the idea of getting your sport pilot license. If this is the case then really how much of difference is that going to give you ?

You have to decide really what you want to do once you become a pilot. Once you have made some of the decisions based on your thoughts then you can progress and see how viable it is going to be for you to get that particular license. A good example of this is your sport pilot license or your certificate. Many individuals will go for this license because it is not as time-consuming, and they feel that it is also the easiest to learn for the money and time also plays a big factor in this as well..

However, there are downsides to this, and you have to realize that there are more restrictions on the sport pilot. Check out these restrictions carefully and if you find that they’re not that much of a major issue to you then this may be all that you require.

You’ll find that this particular course is shorter in hours and also quite a bit less expensive. However, you are going to be spending less time on your training as well . You will get through much quicker than what you would with the other type of pilot categories and in addition to that you will find that the medical qualifications are not quite as rigid.

You may find after you’ve had your sports license for a while that you would like to expand and this won’t be difficult either because you can always go back and upgrade your training.

Consider the downfalls with all of the sports license. You can only take one person with you at a time and when it comes to altitude are not going to be able to go beyond 10,000 feet. You also will have no skills when it comes to radio contact so a particular fly zone if it is a radio demand will be out of bounds for you.

Don’t forget though that if you find that this is something that you’re frequently coming up against then you may want to take the extra instructions and training that’s going to help you get beyond this point. You can get yourself to the point for this restriction not being applicable to you. Another aspect also is that you will not be able to fly during the darkness or the night hours.
